Tips for making the Best Casseroles
1. Don’t overcook your proteins. If you’re using pre-cooked meats in a casserole, they should be just-cooked. They’ll finish cooking in the oven and won’t dry out.
2. Use a shallow baking dish. A 9×13 casserole dish that’s about 2-3 inches deep promotes even cooking.
3. Cover at first. To prevent over-browning, cover the casserole with a layer of aluminum foil during the first few minutes of baking. Remove it later to get a golden brown top.
