These buttery garlic knots should come with a warning label!

Fluffy, golden brown and slathered in cheesy, herby garlic butter, they’re the best thing that’s ever happened to a bread basket.
Instead of homemade pizza dough we’re using store-bought dough to reduce prep time to virtually nothing, getting these delicious garlic knots on the table in no time!
They’re the perfect addition to pizza night, movie night and game days.

Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make these easy garlic knots:
- Pizza dough. Skipping the homemade dough saves lots of time. Most local pizza places will sell you premade pizza dough for a dollar or two! Or, the easiest thing to do is grab it at the grocery store.
- Parmesan cheese
- Butter
- Fresh garlic. The fresh kind imparts a more pure flavor than dried garlic powder.
- Italian seasoning. This is a blend of primarily dried basil, oregano and parsley. Sometimes people add crushed red pepper for heat. Make your own or buy it pre-made at the grocery store.
- Salt

How to Make Homemade Garlic Knots
Slice Dough into Strips
Start by stretching your pizza dough into a rectangle. This is easier to do when you use a tube of pre-made pizza dough (like Pillsbury) because it already unrolls into the shape of a rectangle.
Then, use a pizza cutter or very sharp knife to slice 10 short strips of dough.

Form the Dough into Knots
If you can tie a knot, you can make garlic knots! Simply tie the strips of pizza dough into loose knots. The dough will expand during baking, so be sure to make the knots loose.
Take the ends and tuck them underneath the knots.
They don’t have to be perfect!

Arrange the Dough Knots in a Baking Dish
I use a 12″ cast iron skillet when I make this garlic knot recipe. You could also use a round cake pan or 8×8 baking dish.
Start by greasing your pan with a little butter. Then, arrange the knots in the pan, making sure you leave a little space in between so they can expand during baking.
Now, bake them until they’re puffy and golden brown.

Slather on the Garlic Butter
During the last few minutes of baking, make your garlic butter.
Start by melting butter in the microwave, and then stir in the Parmesan, garlic and dried herbs.
As soon as the knots come out of the oven, apply the butter mixture generously. So good!

Serving Suggestions
Allow the warm knots to cool for about 10 minutes before serving. They’re best enjoyed warm, but they’re still delicious at room temperature. Here are some of my favorite ways to enjoy them:
1. Enjoy homemade garlic knots as an easy appetizer or game day snack. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce like marinara sauce, homemade pizza sauce, quality olive oil or ranch dressing.
2. Replace traditional garlic bread. These knots are a perfect side dish for an Italian meal of pizza or pasta.
3. Serve them alongside a big entree salad for a little carb balance. Sprinkle some fresh herbs over top a pop of color.

Variations
Cheesy Garlic Pizza Knots: Sprinkle the tops of the dough knots with grated mozzarella cheese for an ooey-gooey treat.
Cheesy Pepperoni Garlic Knots: Sneak a few slices of pepperoni into each dough knot after you tie it for a zesty surprise in each bite.
Cinnamon Sugar Knots: Swap out the savory seasonings for a simple mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Combine this mixture with melted butter and brush it on after baking.
No-Garlic Knots: Not a garlic fan? Omit the garlic and brush the knots with Parmesan and Italian seasonings alone.

Storage
If you have leftovers, wrap them in aluminum foil or place them in an airtight container. They’ll stay fresh in the refrigerator for several days.
For best results, reheat your garlic knots in a warm oven or air fryer.
