Cheesy pepperoni rolls are a hit at every party!

We’re using refrigerated pizza dough, two kinds of melty cheese and zesty pepperoni in an easy recipe that the whole family will love.
They’re a great snack for game day, movie night or any time you’re craving something delicious!
Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make these homemade pepperoni rolls:
- Pizza dough. I use Pillsbury refrigerated pizza dough because it’s easy to unroll and stretch into place.
- Pepperoni slices
- Provolone cheese. Grab slices from the deli section of your grocery store. If you can get sharp provolone, even better.
- Mozzarella cheese. We’ll want this cheese to be grated.
- Homemade Italian seasoning. We’re whipping this up using Parmesan cheese, sesame seeds, garlic powder, dried parsley, basil and oregano.

How to Make Pepperoni Rolls
Flatten the Dough
Stretch your dough to a rectangle that’s roughly 13×19. It doesn’t have to be perfect, and make sure not to stretch it too thin.
Layer the Filling Ingredients
Arrange the slices of provolone on the pizza dough. Then, place the slices of pepperoni in a single layer over the cheese so that they cover the surface the dough.
Last, sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese evenly over the pepperoni.
Roll it Up
Now that you’ve layered all of your filling ingredients, roll the dough from long end to long end, jellyroll style. Try to roll it as tightly as you can.
Then, transfer the roll onto a cookie sheet. Be sure that it’s laying seam side down.
Make the Homemade Italian Seasoning
Stir the garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, sesame seeds, oregano, basil and parsley together in a small bowl. Brush the top and sides of the dough with olive oil and sprinkle the Italian seasoning over it.
Bake and Slice
Bake the pepperoni roll until it’s golden brown. Wait about 10-15 minutes before slicing it so you get cleaner slices. I like to use a pizza cutter for the cleanest slices.

Serving Suggestions
Serve your pepperoni rollups either warm or at room temperature with ranch dressing or pizza sauce for dipping.
They make a great appetizer for an Italian meal, or make an easy meal of them by adding a light side salad.

Variations
1. The cheese. This pepperoni roll recipe calls for two Italian cheeses (provolone and mozzarella). Feel free to experiment with different cheeses, as long as they’re Italian! Fontina and Asiago are great options.
2. The pepperoni. Try turkey pepperoni in place of regular pepperoni if it suits your personal preference. You could also opt for a spicy pepperoni or salami.
3. The Italian seasoning. If you like a little heat, add crushed red pepper flakes to the Italian seasoning. You could also incorporate fresh herbs when they’re in season.

Can you make pepperoni rolls ahead of time?
This is a great recipe to make ahead! Simply follow the instructions in the recipe card all the way to the baking step.
Instead of baking the roll, cover the entire baking sheet with plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to enjoy your pepperoni rolls, just bake and slice.
Another option is to make the pepperoni rolls and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat them in a warm oven when you’re ready to serve them.
Storage Instructions
Wrap leftover pepperoni rolls in aluminum foil or place them into an airtight container. They will stay fresh in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
To freeze your leftovers, transfer them to a freezer bag.
Reheat them in a conventional oven, toaster oven or air fryer.

Is a Pepperoni roll the same as pepperoni bread?
The terms pepperoni roll and pepperoni bread can be used interchangeably, depending on the region.
If you’re from Philadelphia like I am, a pepperoni bread recipe is the same as a pepperoni roll recipe. It is traditionally made with pizza dough or bread dough.
But if you’re around West Virginia, your pepperoni rolls might be slightly different. A West Virginia pepperoni roll could be made with softer dough and shaped like small bun.

Is a pepperoni roll the same as stromboli?
The main difference between a pepperoni roll and stromboli is that a pepperoni roll does not have sauce and stromboli does. Most pepperoni roll recipes contain only pepperoni and cheese.
A stromboli has sauce and cheese, and could include any combination of meats like pepperoni, salami and sausage.
