Frozen banana bites coated with luscious dark chocolate and creamy peanut butter.

These indulgent little bites deliver all the satisfaction you’re craving without deep sixing your diet!
This is a snack you’re going to love having in the freezer for those hangry moments in between meals. They’re also a great way to satisfy your sweet cravings after dinner.
My advice? Make a double batch. These little baddies go fast.

Ingredients
- Ripe or just-ripe bananas. We’re not baking banana bread here, so you want the bananas to still be firm.
- Dark chocolate. Go for the 64% cacao kind, which is rich without being bitter. You can find it in morsels or baking bars in most grocery stores.
- Creamy peanut butter

How to Make Frozen Banana Bites
Freeze the Bananas
Start by slicing each banana into 8-10 pieces.
Place the banana slices onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze them for about 15 minutes.

Dip them in the Chocolate Coating
Melt the chocolate using either a double boiler or the microwave.
If you’re using the microwave, heat the chocolate in 30 second increments, stirring in between each increment, until it is smooth. I find that adding 1/8 -1/4 tsp. of coconut oil to the chocolate helps it melt smoother.
Once your chocolate is melted, remove the banana slices from the freezer and dip each one in the chocolate. You can use a toothpick or small fork to do this.
Set the bananas back onto the baking sheet after you dip them.
Now, pop them back into the freezer so that the chocolate can set. This should take about 15 minutes.

Finish with the Peanut Butter Drizzle
Microwave the peanut butter for about 30 seconds. This will loosen it up so you can drizzle it.
Then, bring your chocolate-covered bananas out of the freezer and use a spoon to drizzle the peanut butter over them.
I like to freeze the bananas again just so the peanut butter can set for a few minutes, but it’s not mandatory. You’re good to dive right in!

Make Ahead and Storage Instructions
These chocolate peanut butter banana bites are a great make-ahead treat.
Once the chocolate and peanut butter have set on the frozen bananas, you can take them off the baking sheet and stack them in an airtight container or freezer bag.
Pop one or more out of the freezer any time you want a little bit of healthy indulgence.

Variations
1. The chocolate. You might prefer milk chocolate or semisweet chocolate to dark chocolate. If that’s the case, make the swap!
2. The nut butter. Experiment with nut butters like almond butter and cashew butter. Or try natural peanut butter as a way to reduce the sugar in this recipe.
3. The fruit. Chocolate covered anything, am I right? Try strawberries, blueberries, orange slices or cherries.

Tips for Success
1. Use a toothpick for dipping. This is the easiest way to coat your banana slices in melted chocolate. A small fork can also be used.
2. Freeze, and freeze again. Be sure to freeze the bananas between each step of this recipe. It will make them much easier to work with.
3. Use coconut oil. A tiny bit of coconut oil helps chocolate melt much smoother without burning. And you won’t even be able to taste it!

Are banana bites good for you?
Banana bites are a better option than cake or cookies if you’re looking for a sweet treat. A few reasons why:
1. Bananas are a rich source of potassium and antioxidants. They’re also low in fat and calories, giving you that sweet fix you crave at a lower calorie cost.
2. Dark chocolate has long been loved for its high antioxidant and magnesium content. It also contains theobromine, which has been shown to improve mood. No wonder chocolate makes us happy!
3. Peanut butter is a great source of plant-based protein and healthy fats.
