Beat eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and salt in a shallow bowl.
Soak bread slices in the egg mixture, pressing so that it absorbs as much as possible.
Melt 1-2 Tbsp. of butter in a pan over medium-low heat. Cook the bread in the melted butter until golden brown on each side, about 5 minutes per side. Add butter to the pan as necessary.
Serve French toast warm with maple syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar.
