Rolo pretzel bites are the perfect sweet and salty treat!

Made with only three simple ingredients, these tasty treats are great for Valentine’s Day, holiday parties or any time you want a quick and easy dessert or snack.
The combination of salty pretzels, oozy caramel and creamy milk chocolate will keep you coming back for more!
This is a great activity do with kids, and one of the easiest recipes you can make.

Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make these chocolatey Rolo pretzels:
- Rolo caramel candies
- Mini pretzels. Either a square or traditional pretzel shape is good, as long as they are small.
- M&M candies. Customize the M&M color to suit the occasion! Our Rolo pretzel bites are topped with Valentine-themed colors because it’s February. Choose red and green M&Ms for Christmas, or pastel-colored M&Ms for Easter time.

How to Make Rolo Pretzel Bites
Prepare the Pretzels for Baking
Start by placing the pretzels on an ungreased cookie sheet. (There is no need for parchment paper.) Then, place one Rolo on top of each pretzel.
Bake the Pretzels
Bake for just 5 minutes on a low temperature in the oven. This will soften the Rolos without melting them.
Top the Pretzels with M&Ms
When the Rolos look glossy, you’ll know they’re ready. Take one M&M, place it on top of each Rolo and press down about half way.
Now, just let them set. Try not to touch them for about 30 minutes before you enjoy them. The waiting is the hardest part!

Variations
Here are some fun ways to customize this easy treat to suit your tastes and the occasion:
1. Pretzel shape: have fun with different pretzel shapes like round, square and traditional. Just make sure that the pretzels are small!
2. M&M colors: choose red and green M&Ms during the holiday season, pastel colored M&Ms for Easter and spring or blue/pink M&Ms for baby showers.
3. Top with nuts: Make Rolo pretzel turtles by using nuts instead of M&Ms! Try topping each Rolo with pecan halves, salted peanuts or walnuts. The crunchy pretzels, creamy caramel and buttery nuts are the perfect combination of flavors and textures.
4. Incorporate peanut butter: Instead of M&Ms make peanut butter pretzel bites using Reese’s pieces!

Storage and Make Ahead Instructions
This is such an easy recipe to make ahead of time! If you make this sweet treat ahead or want to store leftovers, here are some options:
1. Room temperature: as long as you store your pretzel bites in a single layer, they can be kept at room temperature in an airtight container.
2. Refrigerator: If you store these treats in the fridge, you can pile them up without worrying about melting. They’ll last for weeks and make the perfect snack for when you just need a little something!
3. Freezer: I do not recommend freezing these pretzel bites.

How do you know when Rolos are done in the oven?
Your Rolos should be glossy but still set and not melted. Depending on your oven, it will take about 3-5 minutes. I find that 5 minutes is perfect for my oven.
